Is it possible to sew over an image transfer?
I want to sew sequins over an image transfer from my computer onto a white oxford shirt. Is this possible? Or will the transfered design give me problems when I’ve run the needle through it so many times?

It will, and the plastic & glue will gum up your machine. I’ll bet beading glue would do a good job for you though

How do you sew a patch onto the knee of jeans?
My daughter has holes in the knees of her new-ish jeans. I tried using one of those iron on patches, but it fell off. It’s difficult to reach up the pant leg to sew it on with a needle. Any suggestions?

Use a sewing machine, it will be much easier. If you don’t own a sewing machine try to borrow one or have a friend that owns a sewing machine do it. It’s actually quite simple to use one if you don’t know how.

Which is a good sewing machine to purchase for a beginner?
I would like to learn to sew some simple projects like pillows and chair cushions and also do some mending. Is there a brand or type of machine that you can recommend? Any that should be avoided? I would also like suggestions for a good book about sewing for beginners-Thanks!

I have a brother sewing machine I bought at Walmart it was in-expensive and it works great. If I was you I would take a sewing class for beginners!! Hobby shops and fabric stores often have them, because they eventually want your business. I know the little quilt shops all offer them too. Im a beginner but I have lots of fun with sewing…I pin everything and keep checking both sides…in and out…to make sure it is going to look like I want it to before I start sewing hehe!! The library has great how to books for beginners…its a nice way to try out a simple project without spending $ 50 on a book…you can always photocopy the project at the library too.

In this sewing video tutorial I show you how to make cloth wipes. I focus on 2 different sewing techniques- 1) using a serger, 2) using a regular home sewing machine, using the stitch, turn, and topstitch method. These cloth wipes are made using 2 cotton flannel squares that measure 9″ square and are great for wiping babies’ bottoms, mouths, hands, faces, etc. I make them out of 2 layers of cotton flannel so that they are more absorbent and protect my hand from diaper messes. These cloth wipes can be used for anything you want and are great to keep stashed away in your purse or car glove compartment.
